Pair face multiple charges after raid on Plaza Drive home

Weapons, ammunition, drugs and cash were seized and a male and female were arrested by police on Monday after a raid of a residence in the 100 block of Plaza Drive.

At about 3:30 p.m., police executing a search warrant found a 9-mm handgun, two loaded magazines, over 40 rounds of ammunition, an expandable baton, a hatchet, prescription drugs, three grams of marijuana, traces of cocaine and $1000 in Canadian currency.

The investigation included members of the NWEST (National Weapons Enforcement Support Team), the TST (Tactical Support Team) and the canine unit.

A 31-year-old Winnipeg woman has been charged with the possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition, three counts of the possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, the possession of a weapon obtained by crime, two counts of the breach of firearms regulation, two counts of the possession of a controlled drug or substance, the possession of a substance for the purposes of trafficking, the possession of the proceeds of crime and the unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A 36-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with the possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition, three counts of the possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, the possession of a weapon obtained by crime, two counts of the breach of firearms regulation, two counts of the possession of a controlled drug or substance, the possession of a substance for the purposes of trafficking, the possession of the proceeds of crime, two counts of the possession of a firearm while prohibited and the knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm.

Both remain in custody.
