Parking found for city councillors

Fear not, Winnipeg. The mayor and city councillors have a place to park their cars.

With the Civic Centre Parkade closed indefinitely due to structural-integrity concerns, members of council have been told they have the opportunity to park at the Bedford Investments-owned parkade at southwest corner of King Street and Bannatyne Avenue.

The Bedford parkade incorporates the facade of the former Ryan Block, a brick building built in 1895 and demolished due to structural concerns of its own. The city and downtown development agency CentreVenture contributed $2.3 million in grants and tax credits toward the $7-million construction of the parkade in 2008.
