Pencer to join Bomber prospects at rookie camp

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added a big piece to their future offensive line foundation.

How big? Tyson Pencer, the team’s first-round draft choice this spring (3rd overall), stands 6-8 and tips the scales at 330 pounds. He will be on the field with other Bomber prospects when their rookie camp opens Wednesday afternoon.

Terms of the deal were not released.

"We are very happy to have Tyson locked up and are looking forward to seeing him on the field this afternoon," said Bomber GM Joe Mack. "Tyson is a gifted athlete who we are counting on to be a big piece of the puzzle for many years."

A 23-year-old product of North Delta, B.C., Pencer spent two years with the Washington State Cougars, making four starts at left tackle. He left the school to join the Okanagan Sun of the Canadian Junior Football League in 2011.
