REPLAY: Goldeyes playoff MVP Ramon at News Café
The MVP of the playoff run that brought Winnipeg its first professional sports championship in 18 years came to the Free Press News Café today.
Third baseman Amos Ramon, who led the Winnipeg Goldeyes to the American Association title on Friday night – he batted .467 and hit two home runs in six games – joined us for an interview at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
He was accompanied by the championship trophy.
Ramon was named the MVP of the playoffs by the American Association Monday.
"Amos always came up with the big hit when we needed it," Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said in a media release.
"After battling back from all the injuries he has gone through during the last two seasons and the way he played in the playoffs, he is very deserving of this award."
