Police arrest 11 members of Mad Cow gang, warrant out for another

One of Winnipeg's most notorious street gangs has taken a major hit following an undercover police project.

A total of 11 Mad Cow members were arrested last week as part of "Project Recall" which began in February.

Police have issued a warrant for a 12th member, 18-year-old Terryl Izzard.

Officers with the street crime unit said Monday this will put a significant dent in gang operations. They were tight-lipped about specifics of the investigation and whether they utilized a police agent or undercover investigators.

The arrests include five youths and seven adults. Charges include trafficking cocaine and possessing proceeds of crime.

Police say they were going after the main street level drug dealers within the gang.

Police seized two shotguns and approximately 80 rounds of ammunition.

The investigation is ongoing.
