Police arrest suspect in multiple robberies

  • Print

Winnipeg police believe they've busted a serial restaurant robber.

Between February and March, six different eateries on McPhillips Street were held up by a man armed with a knife.

The suspect fled with cash on all occassions. There were no injuries.

Police say a lengthy investigation involving general patrol members, the Forensics Identification Unit and Major Crimes Unit has now led to a suspect.

Jonas Chaikowsky, 39, was arrested earlier this week and is now charged with multiple counts of robbery with a weapon  and disguise with intent.

He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
