The suspicious package at Winnipeg Square turned out to be a rather innocuous sports bag.
Police gave the all-clear sign around 10 a.m. after the bomb squad determined there was nothing hazardous in the bag found on a ramp in the lower lever.
The Winnipeg Police Service bomb unit "is trained each and every day for events like this," said Det.-Sgt. Natalie Aitken.
Access to the lower-level area of the mall at Portage and Main had been restricted since about 7:40 a.m.
