Police investigating Empress Street bank robbery

Police have launched an investigation following the robbery of an Empress Street bank.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the financial institution on Friday at about 1:55 p.m. following reports it had just been robbed. Investigations have revealed a man entered the bank alone and eventually approached one of the tellers. The suspect demanded cash and said he had a weapon. The teller complied with the demands and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male between the ages of 20 to 30 years of age, weighing about 250 lbs. with a muscular build. The suspect is said to have short, brown hair and a tattoo on the back of his neck.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
