A cyclist suffered a medical problem Monday night and was not the victim of a hit-and-run collision, police said early this morning.

Initially, it appeared that cyclist had been struck on Empress Avenue near the Polo Park Mall. A bicycle was lying near the street along with a helmet and a backpack.

Police tape was blocking part of the street in both directions.

But a police spokesman said the cyclist had a medical problem, causing him to fall from his bike.

There is no word on the man's condition.
