Police investigating robbery at Jeffrey’s Restaurant

City police have a large area taped off this morning outside Jeffrey’s Restaurant and Lounge on Henderson Highway just south of the Chief Peguis Trail.

Police spokesman Const. Eric Hofley said officers are investigating a robbery at the restaurant that happened shortly after 2 a.m. One man was taken to hospital.

It’s believed three people entered the restaurant at 1420 Henderson Hwy., armed with bear-spray.

One of the employees was stabbed in the upper body and is now in stable condition.

Hofley said in an unrelated incident several minutes later, police were called to an area outside the Marion Hotel in St. Boniface following a report of gun shots.

No one was injured and police do not have a description of the firearm, he said.

Police are also at a secondary scene one block north on Goulet where shell casings were found.
