Police looking for driver who left scene after hitting cyclist

Winnipeg police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a car that struck a cyclist on May 31 at the intersection of Academy Road and Cambridge Street.

Police said the collision between the car and the 18-year-old woman cyclist happened just after 5 p.m.

The driver stayed at the scene briefly but left before he could be identified or interviewed by police.

The driver is described as an Asian man, about 50 years of age, 6’ tall, 175 pounds, medium build, wearing baseball cap and glasses.

The man’s car is described as a four-door, mid-2000 Nissan Sentra or Toyota, beige or brown in colour, with a cracked windshield.

Anyone with information about the driver or the car is asked to contact police at 204-986-6271.
