Police looking for man in white van

Winnipeg police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a white van who tried to pick up an 11-year-old boy as he walked to school in the St. Boniface area Monday morning.

Police said the boy was walking in the area of Bertrand Street and Youville when he was approached by a man in a van asking if he wanted a ride to school.

The boy ignored the man and continued on without incident.

Police were notified later.

The suspect is described as a white man with tanned skin, about 40-50 years of age, with messy gray hair. He was wearing a black sweater.

The vehicle was described as a white Chevrolet family van.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Winnipeg Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
