A person has been taken to hospital in unstable condition following a crash involving a stolen vehicle being pursued by police Saturday morning in St. Vital, Winnipeg police Const. Eric Hofley said.

The accident, which took place on Crystal Avenue near St. Anne’s Road, was the result of a police pursuit, he said.

Officers began following a pickup truck around 8 a.m. that had previously been reported stolen, Hofley said, but couldn’t confirm when the vehicle had been reported stolen or where it had been stolen from. He also couldn’t confirm how long the pursuit lasted or what speeds were reached.

Hofley said he did not know the age or gender of the person taken to hospital, or whether he or she was the driver of the stolen vehicle.

The truck was towed away hours later and police would not release any more details about the incident Saturday afternoon.
