Police search for man after woman sexually assaulted

Police are searching for a man after a 31-year-old woman was sexually assaulted Friday morning in the William Whyte area.

The victim was walking home near Salter Street and College Avenue when she encountered an unknown man. The man forced the victim to a secluded area at which time a sexual assault occurred. The suspect was armed with a weapon.

The victim fled to a nearby business and police were called.

The suspect is described as male, aboriginal in appearance, large/stocky build, approximately 25 years old with short hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
