City police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man caught on tape as he assaulted a Winnipeg transit driver last month.
On Sept. 14 around 12:30 p.m. a man got on the bus at William Avenue and Isabel Street, demanded a transfer but refused to pay the fare. He then assaulted the 50-year-old bus driver, causing non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the assault lasted a few minutes until two unknown males got on the bus and tried to help. One of the good Samaritans was also injured.
The suspect left the bus and hasn’t been found. He is described as aboriginal in appearance, about 25 years old, six-feet tall with a slim build and short dark hair.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
