Police seize $1M in marijuana, equipment in raid

Winnipeg police arrested two people and seized almost $1 million in cannabis and grow-op equipment during a raid on a house in The Maples Thursday.

A 38-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman in the house on Abraham Bay face drug-trafficking and marijuana-production charges as well as theft of telecommunication service charges, Winnipeg police said in a statement. They were released pending a court appearance.

The police service drug unit, tactical support team and District 3 unit seized 848 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of almost $950,000, 2.7 kilograms of packaged marijuana, worth $15,000 and grow-op equipment valued at $15,000, the statement said.
