Standoff ends peacefully

A standoff in Harbour View South with a 58-year-old man armed with a shotgun ended peacefully late Thursday night, police say.

Police went to a Williamson Crescent home at about 7:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a threat.

The Winnipeg Police Service tactical support team, crisis negotiators, the canine unit and uniform patrol officers were all called to the scene.

Traffic on Williamson, Grassie Boulevard east of Lagimodiere Boulevard and Pearn Avenue was closed off.

The man surrendered to police peacefully at 11:20 p.m., police said. There were no injuries and the investigation continues.

During the standoff, police told are residents to stay off the street.
