St. James convenience store robbed

A Portage Avenue convenience store was robbed early this morning.
 
According to police, officers were dispatched to the store located in the 3300 block of Portage Avenue at around 4:00 a.m. following reports of a robbery.
 
Investigations reveal a man entered the store and went behind the cash counter where he began taking an undisclosed amount of lottery tickets and cigarettes. He then fled the scene on foot. The suspect was armed with a knife, but no one was injured.
 
The suspect is described as a 24 to 25-year-old caucasian man, about 5’10" tall, weighing 180 lbs. with curly dirty blonde hair cut short and with large sideburns.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 2 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2839 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
