Public Safety Building could see new use as city offices: Katz

The Public Safety Building could be used to house city offices after the Winnipeg Police Service moves out of the Princess Street structure, Mayor Sam Katz mused.
The police are planning to move into new headquarters next year at the former Canada Post building on Graham Avenue. The purchase and renovations cost $194 million.
The potential sale of the PSB is limited by an 1875 caveat on the land, donated to the city under the condition it remain in public use.
City offices may fulfill the terms of the caveat, Katz mused to reporters in response to a question about the future of the building and the adjacent Civic Centre Parkade, which has been shuttered since late August.
