If you’re looking to get your groove on, you might to check out the Flash Mob Dance today in the centre court of Polo Park Shopping Centre.
Set to kick off at 11:20 a.m., the event is being held to raise awareness for the upcoming Move ‘N Groove-A-Thon, a 12-hour charity fundraiser that takes place April 9 from noon to midnight at Red River Exhibition Place. Billed as Winnipeg’s first inclusive 12 hour dance-a-thon, the event will support the Movement Centre of Manitoba and organizers hope to raise $100,000 in support of the centre.
At least 100 dancers are expected to take part in this morning’s launch. At 11:20 a.m. music will begin to play and strategically placed flashmob dancers on the mall’s main and second floor will begin to dance. Following a brief press conference members of the public will then be encouraged to join the flashmob and give the dance a try.
The Movement Centre of Manitoba is a rehabilitative organization that works with children and adults with mobility challenges including cerebral palsy, head injury, stroke, MS and Parkinson’s disease.
