Public-private partnerships on the agenda for Katz in Ottawa

Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz plans to travel to Ottawa to speak to a House of Commons committee about public-private partnerships.

Katz will address the commons committee on government operations and estimates on Tuesday morning, his office announced in a statement.

The mayor will tout the benefits of public-private partnerships such as the $110-million Chief Peguis Trail extension and the $195-million Disraeli Freeway reconstruction, Katz’s office said the statement.

The Chief Peguis Trail project, built up front with private capital, was completed ahead of schedule. The city also claims Disraeli reconstruction, financed partly with private capital, was completed on time, though the project start was in fact delayed for two years.
