RCMP seize pot at Manitoba-Ontario border

Mounties said they made a seizure of $400,000 worth of pot early Friday morning.

RCMP D Division said Mounties made the seizure after midnight Friday when a road inspector told an eastbound tractor trailer driver to pull into an inspection station on the Ontario-Manitoba border, about 155 kilometres east of Winnipeg.

Police said RCMP officers assisted the inspector with a search of the tractor trailer.

Officers found about 79 kilograms of marijuana, said police.

A 54-year-old man from Aurora, Ont. is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said he was released on a promise to appear and will be in court on July 23.
