A crowd of people noticed the man carrying what they believed was an axe as he was leaving a hotel Sunday morning, said Dauphin RCMP spokesman Const. Robert Tuff.

One person in the crowd yelled at police, alerting them to the man. The police searched him and allegedly found a hatchet, which was seized.
