RCMP are investigating the suspicious sudden death of an eight-year-old girl in the remote Manitoba community of Pukatawagan.
A news release issued this afternoon says officers were called to a residence last Saturday for a report of an "unresponsive" child. She was rushed to the local nursing station where she was pronounced dead.
The girl’s name has not been released, nor has her cause of death. RCMP say an autopsy has been completed and it is considered suspicious.
Members of the Winnipeg-based serious crime unit, Thompson-based major crime unit and the North District crime reduction enforcement support team have been brought in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
No other information is being released by RCMP at this time.
