RCMP officer, spouse charged with assault

A domestic disturbance has led to an RCMP officer and his spouse facing assault charges.

The incident occurred on July 28 at 1:30 a.m. when RCMP officers from the East District were called to a domestic dispute at the home of another officer.

Both the member and spouse alleged to have been assaulted. Both have been charged and will be making court appearances in the coming weeks.

The names are being withheld by the RCMP due to the nature of the allegations.

The RCMP officer involved is currently suspended with pay.
