Rain and sun in long weekend forecast

We can only hope that the forecasters are ‘all wet’ about today’s weather.

The get-away day for the August long weekend promises to be a soggy one, with a 30 per cent chance of showers late this morning and early afternoon and then showers — with thunderstorms — beginning this afternoon. High of 23.

So, there’s a good chance that the Bombers will be all wet when they tackle the Montreal Alouettes tonight — but we hope that’s not in a football sense.

Environment Canada forecasts that the showers with thunderstorms will end this evening but the skies will remain cloudy. A few showers — and a risk of a thunderstorm — are expected before morning. The overnight low will be 14.

On Saturday, the rain should end early in the afternoon and then the skies will clear. There is a risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and early afternoon. The high will only be 20.

But the remainder of the long weekend looks brighter. On Sunday, expect sunny skies and a high of 26. Monday’s forecast calls for sun and a high of 25.
