Skaters enjoy the last few days of the river trail season earlier this week. The trail has officially closed for the year.

WINNIPEG - The Assiniboine Credit Union River Trail has been officially closed.

Mild early-March temperatures hastened the closure, producing surface ponding and runoff.

"We had a good run but it’s now time to stay off the river," said Paul Jordan, Chief Operating Officer at The Forks.

The Bring Back the Jets Hockey Game will still take place. at The Forks Port at noon on Saturday, and will be the last programmed event on the trail.
