Sagkeeng dancers in final of Canada’s Got Talent

Sagkeeng’s Finest certainly seems to be good enough for Canada’s Got Talent voters.

The three-member traditional dance troupe from Sagkeeng First Nation survived their semi-final appearance on the Citytv reality/competition series last weekend, garnering more votes than their competitors and guaranteeing themselves a spot in CGT’s May 13 final talent showdown.

Sagkeeng’s finest, made up of Vince Olaney and brothers Brandon and Dallas Courchene, will join a previously announced field of finalists that includes country singer Ivan Daigle, rapper Mathew Cathcart, dancer Shale Wagman, opera singer Emilio Fina, rock band Angry Candy, beatboxer Scott Jackson, hip-hop dance group Freshh and opera singer Julie Lafontaine.

During last weekend’s Week 5 semi-final, judges Martin Short, Measha Brueggergosman and Stephan Moccio awarded a second spot in the finals to Toronto beatboxer KRNFX. The last two competitors in the May 13 final will be announced Monday.

The winner of Canada’s Got Talent will be revealed in the series’ final results show on May 14.
