Second-degree murder charges laid in death of Jordan Houle
A man is in custody in connection with the shooting death on the weekend of Jordan Houle.
Winnipeg police say they’ve charged Michael Frank Okemow, 24 with second-degree murder and attempted murder. Okemow was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.
Houle was shot just after midnight Saturday morning in the 600-block of Maryland Street. A 19-year-old companion was also shot but managed to run off before police found him a short distance away.
The companion was taken to hospital in serious condition but upgraded to stable.
Police say there was no connection between Maryland shootings and the execution-style murder at the Salsbury House on Pembina Highway at Stafford earlier in the week.
Houle was identified in news reports as the older brother of Cherisse Houle, whose body was found in a creek in the RM of Rosser. Her death was labeled as suspicious by RMCP and no arrests have been made.
