Second emergency landing in two weeks in Brandon

  • Print

The second emergency landing at the Brandon Municipal Airport in the last two weeks had emergency crews on alert but resulted in no injuries.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, police received a 911 call from the airport tower indicating that they had a business jet coming in for landing with smoke in the cockpit.

Police and fire units from the city responded and traffic was stopped along Highway 10 at the end of the runway until the plane was safely on the ground.

The jet landed without problem and all four passengers departed the plane.

Fire crews entered the plane only to discover that the smoke had dissipated.

The aircraft has been grounded until the problem that caused the smoke is identified and the jet is declared airworthy again.

The plane was reported to be travelling from Winnipeg to a destination in the United States.
