Second man charged in Maryland Street slaying

A second man has been arrested and charged with the slaying of a man on Maryland Street last month.

Winnipeg police said today Edward Arthur Coutu, 27, was arrested on Wednesday at about 1:40 p.m., and charged with second-degree murder.

Coutu has been detained in custody.

Jordan Houle and a 19-year-old man were shot just after midnight on Sept. 29, in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

Houle was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries. The teen was able to make his way to a residence a block away to seek help before he collapsed.

Michael Frank Okemow, 24, of Winnipeg, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Oct. 3.

The investigation is continuing by the homicide unit.
