WINNIPEG - A 17-year-old girl is facing drunk-driving charges in connection with a crash that killed two other teens early Sunday morning.
A 19-year-old woman has died in the aftermath of a horrific two-car collision in St. Vital that had already claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl. Both were recent graduates of Dakota Collegiate.

The victims were in a Pontiac Sunfire that carried five passengers, reportedly all recent graduates of Dakota. A third occupant of the car, an 18-year-old woman, remains in critical condition, while two others were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The two other passengers in the Sunfire, as well as the driver of the Cavalier, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The collision happened about 2:50 a.m. Sunday when a Chevrolet Cavalier, being driven west on Bishop Grandin Boulevard by the accused, collided with the driver’s side of a Sunfire headed south on St. Mary’s Road. There was one occupant in Cavalier and five in the Sunfire.
The driver of the Cavalier, a 17-year-old girl who was treated for non-life threatening injuries, was taken into custody. She is facing a number of charges, including impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
She has been released on a promise to appear.
Terry Borys, superintendent of the Louis Riel School Divison, confirmed the second death based on information received from police.
"This is a most tragic situation," said Borys. He said the school is looking at bringing in counsellors to help students deal with the tragedy. Siblings of at least one of the crash victims still attend Dakota.
He said in his 11 years as superintendent, the division has had individuals students, past or present, die in accidents, "but nothing like what this appears to be."
The investigation is continuing by members of the police service's central traffic unit. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact investigators at 986-6271.
