Selkirk-Interlake's Bezan thrilled with Tory majority
There was no nail-biting last night for Selkirk-Interlake Conservative incumbent James Bezan.
He easily won this time, just as he did in 2008 — but with an added bonus.

"It's just a fantastic night," he said, celebrating with Tories across the country.
"We were able to get our majority," said Bezan. "We have won so handily, winning from coast to coast to coast. All of us as members of the Conservative party are ecstatic tonight."
In 2006, Bezan won the riding after he trounced political icon and the province's first NDP premier, Ed Schreyer.
Provincially, the riding is an NDP stronghold and, federally, it used to be a Tory-NDP battlefield.
Not anymore. NDP candidate Sean Palsson, Bezan's nearest rival, didn't come close to defeating the Conservative incumbent last night.
The riding covers 56,000 square kilometres between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Winnipegosis, reaching from the northern suburbs of Winnipeg and Selkirk. Now a federal Tory bastion, it includes the bedroom communities of St. Andrews, St. Clements and Stonewall, the rural areas of Rockwood, Woodlands, Stonewall and Bifrost and Brokenhead first nation.
