Winnipeg woman dies in two-vehicle collision near Steinbach

A 67-year-old Winnipeg woman was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle collision about 6:45 this morning at the intersection of Highway 206 and Highway 311, northwest of Steinbach.
WINNIPEG — A 67-year-old Winnipeg woman was killed and two other people injured in a collision between a car and mini-van near Steinbach about 6:45 this morning, RCMP report.
The two occupants of the car were taken to Steinbach Bethesda Hospital where the female passenger died of her injuries. The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, RCMP said.
The driver of the mini-van suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to Steinbach Bethesda Hospital for further medical treatment, RCMP said.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 206 and Highway 311, northwest of Steinbach. A van and a sedan were still both sitting upright in the ditch shortly after 8:30 a.m.
The woman's name is not being released, the RCMP said.
Traffic is being rerouted by RCMP members.
Steinbach RCMP along with RCMP Traffic Analyst are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Well it looks like people haven't figure out to slow down on this highway. There was another bad accident this morning, and the highway is shut down again.

i drive through that intersection every day, and its amazing how many people blow through that stop sign. people need to slow down!
and my deepest sympathies to the family on their loss.

I know the area well, it was just a matter of time that this would happen. It is not the first time that accidents happen there. Sympathy to the family of all concerned.

sorry, i've now been told that the highway is open north/south, but not east west.

I sure hope that no one was killed at this crash. Drove through there this morning, and it didn't look good. and the highway is open again now believe.
