Severe storm warning issued

Environment Canada has issued a severe storm warning for Winnipeg and surrounding areas, reporting quarter-sized hail in the North End.

The cell is heading to the northeast at 30 kilometers per hour and Environment Canada advises people to be mindful of the possibility of tornadoes.

The warning was issued just after 8:30 p.m. and includes Birds Hill Park and the RMs of East and West St. Paul, St Andrews and St. Clements. It stretches up into the Interlake as far as Gimli.
