Shots fired and earlier stabbing likely linked: police

Police believe that a suspect in a stabbing at a house party in the 1500 block of Alexander Avenue early Saturday is also a suspect in an investigation of shots later being fired at the house.

Const. Jacqueline Chaput said police were called around 2:15 a.m. to a house on Alexander where shots had been fired.

When police arrived, they learned that a man attending the party had been thrown out of the party and then had allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old woman in the upper body, before leaving. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect then returned to the residence a short time later and allegedly fired a number of shots at the house, witnesses at the party told police. No one was struck or injured as a result of the shots, Chaput said.

The investigation is continuing at this time by the Major Crimes Unit. No arrest has been made and no additional information is currently available.
