Signs point to Cormier's return to Jets

HAMILTON, Ont. — One of the last cuts at Winnipeg Jets' training camp may be getting a chance to return.
Right-winger Patrice Cormier, 21, was a healthy scratch for the AHL's St. John's IceCaps tonight at Copps Coliseum and signs point to his return to Winnipeg in time for Thursday night's NHL game at the MTS Centre against the Los Angeles Kings.
Cormier, originally a second-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2008, played 21 NHL games and had one goal for the Atlanta Thrashers last season.
He has had a hot hand for the IceCaps lately, scoring six goals and eight points in the eight games before the team's Christmas break. Cormier participated in today's morning skate at Copps but was then held out of the game against the Bulldogs. He has nine goals and 13 points in 28 AHL games this season.
The Jets have a open spot on their roster, with 13 forwards and just seven defencemen, though with centre Bryan Little's foot injury, they currently do not have a healthy extra forward.
