Skinned animal was a coyote
A skinned animal propped up beside a highway was a coyote and not a family pet.
Steinbach RCMP said today the Office of the Chief Veterinarian made the determination after examining the animal’s remains and having samples sent for DNA analysis.
The remains were discovered in a ditch in the RM of Hanover on Jan. 9.
The discovery came at a time when area residents feared their pets were being stolen and didn’t know what was happening to them.
