Slowly but surely temperatures getting warmer

The light at the end of winter’s tunnel is not a train.

Every couple of days, the average temperature inches up a degree and it’s only a matter of time until we’re well into the melting season.

The forecast calls for a high of -5 C today, and that’s three degrees warmer than the seasonal high for the second week of February. Winds are expected to be south at 20 km/h under a mix of sun and cloud.

It’s going to be even warmer Wednesday with a high of -3 C with cloudy skies and a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the afternoon and evening.

Environment Canada is calling for a dip below normal highs for the end of the week, -13 C, -14 C and -9 C under sunny skies for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, respectively.

But it will be back above normal on Sunday with a high of -6 C under cloudy skies.
