Snowfall warning issued for parts of province

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for several areas in the province.

In the Interlake,a warning has been issued for the Rural Municipality of Bifrost, including Arborg, Riverton, Hnausa and Hecla,

About 10 to 25 cm of snow is expected over eastern portions of the Parklands and Central Interlake by Saturday morning.

A low-pressure system is bringing heavy snow to an area from western Manitoba to the Central Interlake this morning.

Snow has been reported in the warning area, including Dauphin and McCreary.

Manitoba Highways reports slushy and snow-covered roads, with slippery conditions and reduced visibility.

Snow will continue to fall west and northeast of Lake Manitoba throughout today, into this evening.

Snow will taper off tonight as the low-pressure system moves into southeastern Manitoba.

The heaviest snowfall accumulation is forecast for the eastern and northeastern slopes of Riding Mountain National Park, including an area along Highway 5 stretching from Dauphin to Neepawa.

Local snowsqualls are expected to develop off Lake Manitoba tonight. This could bring locally heavy snow southeast of the lake, tonight into Saturday morning.
