Southbound lanes of Disraeli closed this weekend

The two southbound lanes of the Disraeli Bridge over the Red River will be closed this weekend to allow for concrete to be poured on the new bridge, the city said this morning.

Suggested alternate routes in the immediate area for southbound traffic are Hespeler Avenue / Redwood Bridge towards Main Street, and Johnson Avenue W / Levis Street / Stadacona Street / Louise Bridge towards Higgins Avenue.

The adjacent sidewalk will continue to be permanently closed; pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk on the east side of the bridge.

For transit re-routing go to www.winnipegtransit.com.

Construction hours will be extended in order to minimize the disruption by completing this work over one weekend.

The new Disraeli Bridges will replace the 50-year-old structures that span the Red River and the CP Railway mainline.
