St. James, Whyte Ridge power out Sunday morning

More than 9,000 homes in the White Rydge and St. James areas were without power this morning.

According to Manitoba Hydro, the power went out at around 9:15 a.m. in the St. James area from Moray Street to St. James Street and from the Assiniboine River to Ness Avenue. The problem stemmed from a cable problem in an overhead line at one of Hydro’s substations. Power was restored to those homes just after 10 a.m.

About 2,500 customers in southern Winnipeg also lost power after a contractor dug up an underground cable. Some customers between Bison Drive to Taylor Avenue were without power from 10:30 a.m. until 11:40 a.m.
