St. Vital arena gets $500-K upgrade

The Glenwood Community Centre Arena in St. Vital will receive a half-million-dollar upgrade thanks to help from the three levels of government.

The nearly 40-year-old arena is getting a new heating and dehumification system and new insulation and cladding. Its support beams will be repaired and sandblasted, and its interior walls will be repaired and painted.

The total bill is projected to be $523,000. The civic and provincial governments are each contributing $140,000, while Ottawa is chipping in $103,000 from its community infrastructure improvement fund. The Glenwood Community Centre is also taking out a $140,000 loan.
