Man charged in Friday morning Transcona stabbing

A Winnipeg man has been charged after a man was stabbed in Transcona on Friday.

Gerald Mustard, 40, has been charged with aggravated assault. He has been detained in the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Winnipeg police said the injured man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but is now in unstable condition.

Police said a drinking party was being held in the 300 block of Regent Avenue East early on Oct. 19, when the 50-year-old resident asked a man to leave the party at about 6:55 a.m.

When the man refused, the two began to fight while a 23-year-old woman tried to break it up.

The man pulled a knife and allegedly stabbed the 50-year-old man in the upper body.

Police are continuing to investigate.
