  • Print

A Steinbach man is dead following a paddle board accident on Lake of the Woods.

Gary Dueck, 52, was pulled from the water by the Ontario Provincial Police underwater search and recovery unit early Tuesday afternoon, a spokesman with the OPP confirmed.

It’s believed Dueck had fallen off his paddle board and did not immediately surface near Pine Portage Bay at around 5 p.m. Monday.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday at the Lake of The Woods District Hospital in Kenora.

No other details on the incident were available. The investigation continues.
