Stoughton top seed at Safeway Championship

The Jeff Stoughton team of the Charleswood Curling Club has been named the top seed for the 2013 Safeway provincial men's curling championship which will be held on Feb. 6-10 at Neepawa's Yellowhead Centre.

The 32 teams participating in the Safeway Championship, the 89th running of the provincials, selected the seeds.

Team Mike McEwen of Fort Rouge has been seeded second, followed by the defending champion Rob Fowler team from Brandon.

Seeded fourth is William Lyburn of Deer Lodge and fifth is Terry McNamee of Brandon.

The No. 6-10 seeds are Sean Grassie of Deer Lodge, Daley Peters of Gimli, Dave Elias of West Kildonan, Scott Ramsay of Granite and David Bohn of Assiniboine Memorial.

The winner of the Safeway Championship will represent Manitoba at the 2013 Tim Horton's Brier in Edmonton on March 2-10.
