Police have released pictures of a suspect after a man and his guide dog were threatened in September on Portage Avenue downtown and again on a transit bus.

The man, 41, and his guide dog were waiting in the area of Portage Avenue and Spence Street about 8 a.m. Sept. 17 when a male stranger approached them. The male started distracting the dog, and was asked to stop.

The male continued with this behaviour and threatened to seriously harm both the man and his guide dog.

The male followed as the man caught a bus headed to the Polo Park area. He continued to threaten the man and his dog while on the bus, despite several passengers attempting to intervene.

The man eventually exited the bus and safely made his way to his destination and notified police.

As a result of an investigation, officers have located surveillance photos of a suspect. Despite on-going efforts by WPS members, the suspect has not yet been identified.

The suspect is described as: an adult, Caucasian in appearance, 5’8"-5’9" tall, dark brown hair and a goatee. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a dark jacket with red writing on the left front, light coloured hoodie and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regading this matter, or the identity of the suspect, is asked to contact police at 204 986-2839.
