Super spring takes day off; warmer weather to return Wednesday

Summer is taking a siesta today.

OK, technically it isn’t summer yet. But it sure felt like summer the last couple of days as daytime temperatures climbed near 30 C.

But Environment Canada says it will be a different story today, with the temperature expected to climb to only about 18 C. And the wind won’t be as fierce, coming out of the north at between 20 and 40 km/h.

The other good news is there should be plenty of sunshine later this morning and this afternoon. And the sky is expected to remain clear overnight, with the temperature dipping to about 7 C.

Wednesday will also start off clear, with a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon. With the wind shifting back to the south, the temperature should climb to about 24 C.

Then the summer-like weather returns with a vengeance, with expected highs of 29 C on Thursday, 32 C on Friday and 30 C on Saturday.

Thursday and Friday are expected to see a mix of sun and cloud, with a 30 per cent chance of showers on Friday. That will increase to 40 per cent on Saturday under mostly cloudy skies.

But the sunshine is expected to return for the last two days of the Victoria Day long weekend, with highs both days of about 24 C.
