SuperStar hockey fundraiser game to be the last

The game will be played at 7 p.m. The MTS Autograph Alley will be held, for ticket holders only, prior to the game at 4-5 p.m.
Among the players expected to suit up for the charity event are Jonathan Toews, Jordin Tootoo, Mike Richards, Travis Zajac, Cam Barker and Colton Orr.
All proceeds from the game will go to the Believe In The Goal Foundation, which supports cancer-patient care in Manitoba in memory of former Western Hockey League player Todd Davison. Davison died on Dec. 2, 2006 at age 20 after a three-year battle with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
The Foundation’s fundraising golf tournament will continue to be held with this year’s event on Aug. 10 at Bel Acres Golf and Country Club.
In the past five years, the Foundation has raised over $300,000 to help young local cancer patients.
Colleen Deckert, president of the Believe In The Goal Foundation, said there are still 200 tickets available and the Foundation hopes to sell out the last hockey game. "We know Todd would be in awe of how the Winnipeg community has embraced the Believe cause," said Deckert, in a statement. Her son Jesse was a former teammate of Davison’s. "2011 is a very special year for the Foundation. We share in the city’s tremendous excitement of the return of the NHL at the same time that we celebrate the achievement of Todd’s dream to make life more comfortable for adolescents fighting cancer. We look forward to a standing room-only crowd on August 11."
