Suspect charged after man dies during street race in Swan River

A man has been charged in the death of a driver in a two-vehicle street race in Swan River on Sept. 30, RCMP said this morning.

A 26-year-old Swan River man died when he lost control of his 1994 Pontiac Grand AM, drove over a boulevard, and struck a metal light standard. He was not wearing a seat belt, RCMP said.

Dallas Joseph Genaille, 25 of Minitonas has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Street Racing.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Swan River Provincial Court on Nov. 21, RCMP said.
